On Friday I dropped in at a village pub on the way back from work and
had venison sausages (with mash, onions and gravy). Three plump
sausages, solid meat (as far as I could tell the only thing other than
meat was herbs, no 'padding' that I could tell). Solid and filling and
very tasty. Aparently they are made by a butcher in Chesham (the pub is
in Penn Street), Bucks, according to the waitress (who I assume is
actually over 16!).
They also serve "Squirrel Burgers", although I was disappointed to learn
that they are named after the pub (which is called "The Squirrel") and
not actually made from the tree-rats <g>...
I've passed that pub every day coming back from work for the best part
of the year, it's the first time I've been in there (I'm driving so I
can't drink alcohol, and usually I eat something when I get home rather
than on the way).
