Oh well, this looked on the cards - at least hopefully D/M will invest
in the old plant & keep the beers going - I think compared to InBev,
etc they're a pretty safe pair of hands & brew some cracking beer.
cheers

Belgium: Beer Producer Duvel Moortgat Acquires Bankrupt Liefmans /
Source: FLEXNEWS
26 June 2008 - Belgian brewer Duvel Moortgat will acquires bankrupt
Liefmans Breweries for 4.5 million euro, the company said in a
statement.
Further to the purchase, Duvel Moortgat will initially focus on
Liefmans=92 brown ales and fruit beers, which are produced at a plant in
Oudenaarde. The move will enable Duvel Moortgat to enter a market
segment in which it was not active.
The brewer added that it will make the necessary investments to
improve the Oudenaarde facility.
In February, FLEXNEWS re****ted that Duvel Moortgat had been granted
tem****ary production rights by Liefmans Breweries.
Liefmans' receivers had allowed Duvel to use production on a tem****ary
basis, on the condition that Duvel would prepare an offer to acquire
all or part of Liefmans' operations.
Liefmans was declared bankrupt in December.
