What do <you> mean by "organic"? 
What rearing - other than no chemicals in the food - do you think is
essential for the organic label?
What food <should> they be fed?
What living conditions should they have - access to open air/indoors -
stocking levels - medical care/vaccination?

"Organic" in UK is not necessarily the same as in other countries, either
by definition or by certification.

Free range or organic does not necessarily mean that the chickens were
raised in good conditions.

I feel that the descriptions given by the retail system are not adequate
for the buyer to decide how the chickens have been kept. If the bird was
raised in the UK and is described as organic then you have the Soil
Association's definition ot fall back on. If, however, the bird was <not>
reared in UK - regardless of whether it says British on the packet (food
labelling regs are complex) then you have no real idea of what is meant by
"organic".
