I think instead it is all the postwar, factory farm generation.  People
like 
what they are used to.  Faff is al they are used to, and they make up for
it 
by throwing too many ingredients on top and adding chillies and lemon to 
everything.
It bothers me to see people make a traditional recipe of note and great 
subtlety, then serve it with knock-out side dishes badly selected and then

say, it didn't taste of anything.  Yanno if you serve most things next to 
pesto you will not taste anything but pesto.
