My apologies for injecting a food-related non-sequitur into this thread.
There is probably no link between the 20% Bengali population and the
scarcity of cinnamon. Cinnamon is a mandatory item in Bengali garam
masala.
Perhaps the problem is that only 20% of the population is of Bengali
origin. That could be a reasonable link.
