Greetings All,
we went to Cafe TPT at the weekend and thought I pass along my comments on
this smart chinatown restaurant.
As ever, this is another of those TARDIS restuarants, much bigger on the
inside! It looks quite tiny from the outside but seems to cram in an
awfull
of chinese folk at lunch time, just as well they have an upstairs too. The
waitresses some how find they away around the crowds of people and are
almost able to read minds, although they are to polite to admit they do. I
mean no sooner had my daughter dropped her chopsticks on the floor than a
waitress appeared with a new pair, with out asking... Wonderfull service.
So what of the food, well thet me say from the start to make sure you ask
for the non-microwave option. I regulary heard the beep on the electronic
chef and to my horror my takeaway was 'cooked' as well! That said, the
food
is of a very high quality, probably using lots of traditional ingredients
-
inlcuding MSG - ahhh bliss!
We where not too adventurous on our first visit: Beef Brisket with Rice,
Roast Duck noodle soup, BBQ ****t with Rice and Sui Kaw Soup.
The brisket was a bit to salty for my taste, but there was lots to eat.
Oddly enough the Roast Duck did not have much flavour, but the noodles are
as good as Wong Kei's in the old days and again my daughter couldn't get
enough of them! Remeber to ask for the seperate menu for the more
tradional
soups, its just a sheet of paper and has all the best dishes on it. The
Sui
Kaw noodles are home mode and stuffed with prawns and totally delicious.
The Cha Sui (BBQ ****k) is what they do best, nice aromatic flavour just
sweet enough and lots of it. We ordered another ****tion to take away and
weren't dissapointed - accept of course they microwaved it. Nice time we
know better and we will be going back.
Nathan Brazil.
P.S. Anyone know why TPT?
