Polluted water poisons 34 people in Guangdong

GUANGZHOU, Nov. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Thirty-four villagers in south
China's Guangdong Province were hospitalized on Sunday for having
developed obvious poisoning symptoms, local government source said.
The source said the 34 people, who are from Lingxia Village of
Yingde City's Heng****ang Town****p, suffered from abdominal pains and
vomits after drinking the water from a local river.
They were immediately sent to local hospitals, and seven of them
remained in hospital as of Sunday noon.
Preliminary investigation showed the river was polluted by the
waste water discharged from mineral plants on the upper reaches. Enditem
