In brief: three big ISPs are gonna drop either all Usenet, or the
alt.* hierarchy, more or less set off by this bird's wanting to block
the 88 (of over 100,000) usenet groups on which he found kiddie ****.
(and I wonder if he's including plain text stories in his compendium)
The three:
Time Warner Cable--offing all Usenet
Sprint--offing the alt* groups.
Verizon--selected groups, probably the whole alt* set.
My opinion: They want to drop Usenet cos it costs 'em money, and none
of 'em--as with politicians--likes the idea of wide-open forums.
