Cheesy Bread
-
Makes: 30-40 slices
-
8 oz shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 lb shredded _sharp_ Cheddar cheese
1/2 -1 cup chopped green onion (to taste)
1/2 cup mayo
2 Tbsp sour cream (optional)
3-4 cloves garlic, minced
6 minced black olives
1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup, 4 oz), softened to being slightly
melted
1 - 2 loaves of French or Italian bread, (depending on loaf size)

In a lg bowl, mix cheeses, olives & onion. Stir in mayo & sour cream.
In a separate sm bowl blend butter & garlic until smooth. Add to cheese
mix, blend well. Preheat broiler. Slice bread loaf in 1/2
horizontally, lay crust side down. Spread cheese mix over bread. Place
under broiler until nicely browned, (abt 3 - 5 min.) Remove; let sit
for 5 min until cool enough to handle. Slice with a bread knife. Serve.
Prep Note: The serrated edges on a bread knife can pull off the cheesy
crust. To prevent this, place the finished garlic bread cheese side down
on a cutting board. Slicing through the crust (rather than the cheese)
first will keep the cheese in place.
