I buy it an ounce at a time  and pass vials to friends and family. A
third of an ounce keeps me about a year. A house sitter at my
daughter's used some saffron -- with permission -- in some challah
that she baked, according to a recipe she had been using for years.
Housesitter told my daughter that next time she would use half.. it
was the strongest stuff she has ever used. Threads give some dishes a
nice look, but powder is easier to use. (Also easier to adulterate.)
