Good idea. And I suppose you could spit on a slice of raw potato for
the same effect--if I remember my days as a 13 year old amateur
"Gilbert Set" chemist and junior Dr. Frankenstein.

Just read for the first time your post about the sugar cubes and
turpentine--and the balsamic vinegar. I'm going to try the latter, for
as they always say, "An ounce or two of prevention is worth a pound of
blue potatoes."

We have a dollar store here nearby, where you can buy a bottle of that
lovely vinegar for a buck.

But what's with the brewer's yeast?  Is that a topical application or
is to be ingested?

NOTE: as to the time given for iodine exposure to the bite:   I said
"twenty or thirty minutes". Okay, that tends to be good for a bite in
the early stage, but when it's somewhat advanced, up to an hour of
exposure may be necessary. That is, however, to increase a discomfort
of inflamation from the iodine.  For me, it's been worth it, whatever
the sting, just to be rid of the miserable aggravation of that itch.
