Weekly Diary Fourth Semester #8

by Kathy <kasia@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 11, 2005 at 08:34 PM

I'm tired, and this is late for I just got home! We, my friend Troy
came along for the public was invited, just got back from the
Cleveland Museum of Art. Left at 8:30 this A.M. and luckily did not
run as long as I was told originally which was 9 P.M. My leg muscles
are having hissies even though I slept all the way back and it is a
three hour trip. Got there at 11:30 A.M. and left to return at 3:30
this afternoon. They provided a bag lunch for us, really good
sandwiches cookies and fruit but nothing to drink. We went to view
the Phillips Collection which will be on exhibit until May and I would
have loved to be able, Troy also on this one, to get there on my own
and just explore it with out the crowd of accompanying students.
There were 60 of us and some of those were instructors at JCC. That
museum is huge! My body decided to play nasty and hit me with an
attack of vertigo and I hit the floor. Troy was having hissies
because they \, the museum staff, tried to turn it into a Code Blue
and were not listening when I said I'm OK. He and another classmate,
who had seen me go down before and knew what the score was braced a
side apiece of my walker and let me push myself back up and the I
agreed to switch to a manual wheelchair to make the museum staff
happy. They called the paramedics in and when I explained to the
paramedic who was checking me out what was what in my health system he
chuckled and just said okay you know you and you are right you don't
need us. Just another day in the life of Kasia. The weather has a
lot to do with this. We've reverted to January and Easter is two
weeks a way and we are three weeks form April. Its snowing and the
high was 28 today and that is what they are calling for the next week.
Who stole spring?

Its been a little hectic at school. Art Survey we have started into
the next section and I am working on the paper that is due on Tuesday
on Titian's The Bacchanal. Ceramics we started glazing I had one
piece that I made according to the instructor's instructions the only
problem was that it was way way heavier that I like to make and my
muscles decided it was a good time to quit working. Yep I dropped the
piece; luckily it was right over the glaze bucket I was getting ready
to use so it landed in the glaze bucket but broke the handle right off
and splashed glaze all over the place! Good thing the glaze buckets
next to it were all covered. So I cleaned up the mess put the glazed
piece on the cart waiting to be fired, its a cone ten reduction, and
headed back to try and do the next piece which was to use a balloon as
the center of coil or slab or combination and build a piece that way.
Well, it wasn't going and this was Tuesday. Got back there Thursday
and had to wipe off the bottom of the glazed piece which was wax
resisted so that it wouldn't stick to the bottom of the kiln, and got
the balloon piece done. Health I found some extra credit work nd
turned it in and we had a speaker come in on Wednesday that I stayed
completely out of the discussion on. He was from the AIDS/HIV
coalition here and since I had done 5 years of volunteering in
Illinois in a AIDS/HIV free clinic I took the stance that I didn't
need to hog the classroom wit information I already knew. Well there
were a few changes in the information, meaning the incubation time,
but there is still no cure.

That's been the week for me, so until next week and it should be a bit
earlier
