BRITS crave chips above any other food, a survey revealed yesterday.
A bag of fries beat even a bacon sandwich as the grub we hanker after
most.
Chips were tops with 21 per cent of people quizzed, while a streaky sarnie
managed only 17 per cent.
Chocolate was the choice for 14 per cent in the poll by supermarket chain
Iceland, who questioned 500 people.
Ten per cent hunger for a Chinese takeaway while eight per cent are hot
for
a curry.
Another seven per cent dream of hot buttered toast and six per cent said
pizza tickled their tastebuds.
Four per cent plumped for a traditional English breakfast fry-up.
Snack cravings are thought to be on the up because of the number of people
on diets who miss their favourite grub.
Nick Canning, Iceland's marketing director, said: "Food cravings are a
highly personal thing.
"This was demonstrated by some of the more unusual items people mentioned,
like broccoli and Scotch eggs."
Top ten cravings: 1 Chips 21%; 2 Bacon sandwich 17%; 3 Chocolate 14%; 4
Chinese takeaway 10%; 5 Curry 8%; 6 Toast 7%; 7 Pizza 6%; 8 Fry-up 4%; 9
Cheese 3%; 10 Crisps 2%.
