Sim City Societies...

by "Lydia Dustbin" <marrowjam@[EMAIL PROTECTED] away]blueyonder.co.uk> Nov 20, 2007 at 10:28 PM

Is nothing like Sim City, which, half the people howling about it in the
Sims group should have known before they bought the game.
..
It reminds me of the 'Theme' stable of games. Big chunky buildings with a
slightly retro lookabout them and slightly uncoordinated sims marching
about
looking incredibly busy.
..
So far I am still in infinite money mode grabbing what I want, and what
they
let me have. I started off full of good intentions, building a collection
of
cottages round a village square.. added a fam,. a dairy building, a coop
of
chickens/ gave them a couple of shops and a pub, added a church and
decorations to keep them happy.
..
All hell broke loose. They wanted more spirituality and ended up dropping
down Tibetian prayer wheels, japanese Zen gardens, a Buddhist monastery.
Work! Give us Work! crikey.. a shop opened, an ice cream parlour, a
temperance hall.. A TEMPERANCE hall?.. and a pub.
They turned crimi-niles, so they got a police station and a jail out by
the
recycling plant and this made them bored so they got a theatre.
Then I was warned that there was no authority in the town so i built a
bank,
a loans department an estate agent and... Over the river, and they got a
new
housing estate to fill a new school, and a town hall and a militart
acadamy??? Uh?
..
By now my small town was looking a bit riffy and not a bit like the
pastoral
idyll I had hoped for.
..
I am supposed to concentrate on one aspect like having a creative
community
of artists, or a gang of organic farmers or even wild-eyed idealists but I

seem to have a bit of everything and it's all going a bit haywire. I might

yet turn it into a industrialised hell-hole.
..
People are saying it will crash as soon as the city gets too big, but I
doubt if I will let it get that far before starting all over again, but
THIS
time....
I am enjoying it, though, in a way... How I will feel in a week's time I
don;t know.
..
Sim City it is NOT. It's more like Roller Coaster Tycoon only with houses
and schools. 8)
It's strange to see a modern game which hasn;t pushed the graphics to
sooper-dooper level like Sims, where they even include the ruddy screw
heads
behing the picture frames and show every blade of grass.
