It's not a good thing to do for various reasons.

The shops don't keep eggs in chill cabinets ...

People think that eggs will keep 'fresher' for longer if they're 
refrigerated but that's not true. We have bantams so don't buy eggs, when 
they're not laying we use the ones laid earlier. They're stored in boxes
in 
the pantry - which isn't particularly cold.

In March this year I wanted eggs to make a cake and the last stored ones 
were marked July 07. They were fine. Through the winter we only used eggs 
for mayonnaise.
